Spectator Sport

Throughout the world there are many spectator sports. Basketball, tennis, football, baseball, golf, hockey and many more I’ve not mentioned.
In these games, you’re only on the court, teeing off, or in the dugout if you happen to be on the team. Only those who’ve practiced many years and given up countless hours to the sport will make the team.
Being a Christian is NOT a spectator sport. You don’t just sit in the bleachers, or follow someone around who’s chasing a little white ball. You become a participator: a part of the entire picture. You don’t even have to try out. You’re already on the team.
Being a Christian is open to anyone who wants to be on this special team. There is no age, weight or height requirements other than believing Jesus Christ is the Son of God Who gave His life to redeem ours.
When you’re a spectator, you expect to get something for your money. It’s all about YOU.
When you’re a participant God expects something from you for His time and effort. It’s all about HIM.
He wants us to contribute to His team: to show up at practices, study the rules and work hard at being who He wants us to be.
We’re already here, so why not give it our best shot?
