Right Before Our Eyes

I visited COSI in Toledo, Ohio a couple of years ago, and as the kids ran in every direction, I noticed an interesting machine beside me.  The directions were easy: I was to start the video, look into the two holes in the front, and study the girl in the white blouse.  The directions boasted I wouldn’t notice what took place.  That’s all the challenge I needed.

When the video started it was a group of teens dancing in an open area.  I spotted the girl in the white blouse right away and was positive her blouse was going to change color or her short sleeves were going to slowly become longer or something like that.

My eyes were glued to that girl, and even though I watched her intently nothing changed.

If nothing happened, you were to rewind and watch again: this time not concentrating on anything in particular.  I did, and what happened blew me away.  A man in a gorilla suit walked through the room, as the teens danced, and I never saw him.  Now a gorilla is hard to miss, but I did: because I wasn’t looking for it.

When Jesus Christ came the first time, many missed Him, because they weren’t expecting Him to come in the manner in which He did.

Jesus Christ is in this very room… right here among us.  I pray we aren’t concentrating to closely on the things of this world that we don’t even see Him.
