And I Knew

By Marcia K. Leaser

                          I entered into His presence

with the filthy rags of my past

                                 draped about my shoulders

                          He did not speak ...

but I felt love as our eyes met.

                  And I knew -

I no longer needed to carry shreds

                             of a past long forgiven.

Of a past He had bled for.

                          I stood in His presence

                             with raiment’s white as snow

                                 wrapped around my shoulders.

                         He did not speak ...

But I felt peace as our eyes met.

                 And I knew -

I no longer needed to answer for remnants

                             of a past long forgotten.

Of a past He had died for.
