The Gift of Freedom

By Marcia K. Leaser

As we gather together as families, to read the Christmas story this year, let’s say a prayer for the ones who have given us that right: the ones far away in harms way.  Let’s remember the young men and women in our Military, who have fought, and are fighting today to allow us that privilege.

I can’t imagine the pain they endure every day in the field of battle.  Because, you see, I live in America… the privileged country founded on the very motives, they’re fighting for; so people I’ll never meet will have the same rights we so often take for granted.

Ask God to protect and bless them as they serve These United States so gallantly.

As the carefully wrapped packages are opened, and the glittering tree lights fill the room, don’t forget the ones in the trenches of war; there so we can own this precious gift of freedom, which I pray will always be ours.
