Brambles of Life
By Marcia K. Leaser

They walked for many miles,
to the top of the lonely hill.
Isaac, the trusting child…
was laughing and prattling still.
“Father, where are we going?
Please say we’re almost there.”
The little boy’s innocent laughter
seemed lost in the misty air.
Straps bound the hands of Isaac,
the knife was lifted high.
The lad didn’t ask a question,
was he willing then, to die?
Abraham would have continued,
and the sacrifice been made.
But his son’s life was spared that day…
because he had obeyed.
I’m sure we’ve all encountered,
many difficult times in our lives.
Things didn’t seem to make any sense
and there was no place left to hide.
But just when we find ourselves feeling
not one person on earth understands.
We turn and find in the brambles of life -
God has provided a ram.
