From my Window

From my Window

Looking out my window, I see our dismal woods.  Lots of tree limbs lying around and debris that was caught around them when the creek flooded throughout the winter months.  The grass hasn’t yet begun to green and the leaves have yet to appear.

I’ve seen this same view for forty years and every year it’s the same.

And every year I find myself wondering how God will turn this dead-looking area into the magnificent woods I meander through every summer.  And yet, He does. Next month this view will be transformed into a myriad of colors and a multitude of tones with birds singing, and the wind blowing through the trees clothed in many colors of green leaves.

I can’t help but compare this view I see at the end of winter to our lives before we awaken to the reality of Jesus Christ.  We, too, are dismal and full of debris caught up in our lives from the world around us.  We are not yet alive with the beauty He brings into each life, by transforming us into a garden full of joy, happiness and His grace.

Winter is a given in Ohio.  Springtime is, also, and the joy of His presence in our lives as we allow Him into our hearts.
